2.2 Usage Data and Technical Information

When you visit or use the Site, we may automatically collect certain information, including:

2.3 Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance and personalize your experience on the Site and to understand how the Site is used. Full details are set out in our Cookie Policy.

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. We may use both session cookies (which expire when you close your browser) and persistent cookies (which stay on your device until deleted).

We use cookies to:

  • Make the Site function properly and securely;
  • Remember your preferences;
  • Understand how users navigate and interact with the Site;
  • Perform analytics (for example, via tools such as Google Analytics);
  • Support advertising or retargeting campaigns (where applicable).

You can usually configure your browser to reject cookies or to alert you when cookies are being sent. If you disable cookies, some features of the Site may not function properly.

We may also work with third-party analytics and advertising providers who set their own cookies and tracking technologies to collect information about your use of the Site over time and across different sites and services. These third parties may use this information to provide analytics, measure ad performance, or deliver tailored advertising.

We do not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals. You can, however, manage cookies and advertising preferences through your browser settings and opt-out settings offered by certain third-party networks.

3. How We Use Personal Information

We use the Personal Information we collect for the following purposes:

Lead Generation and Matching

  • To receive and process your request for home improvement services;
  • To determine which Fulfilment Partner(s) (such as Angi) or service providers may be able to help you;
  • To share your contact and project details with those Fulfilment Partners so that they or their network of contractors can contact you and provide quotes or information.

Communication with You

  • To contact you by email, telephone, or text message regarding your request;
  • To send you confirmations, updates, reminders or follow-up messages about your inquiry;
  • To respond to your questions, support requests, or other communications.

Marketing and Promotions

  • To send you information about services, offers, or promotions that we think may be relevant to you (where permitted by law and subject to your choices and preferences);
  • To measure and improve our marketing efforts.

Site Operation, Improvement and Analytics

  • To operate, maintain, and secure the Site;
  • To analyze how the Site is accessed and used, and to improve our content, layout, and user experience;
  • To test, develop, and implement new products and features.

Legal and Compliance

  • To comply with legal obligations, regulatory requirements, and lawful requests;
  • To detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, security incidents, and other malicious or illegal activity;
  • To protect our rights, property, and safety, and the rights, property, and safety of our users and third parties;
  • To enforce our Terms of Use and other agreements.

4. Legal Bases for Processing

Where a legal basis is required under applicable law, we rely on the following:

  • Consent — e.g. when you submit a service request form, consent to receive marketing communications, or accept cookies (where required);
  • Performance of a contract — e.g. when processing your request for services, communicating with you about your inquiries, and connecting you with Fulfilment Partners;
  • Legitimate interests — e.g. for site security, fraud prevention, analytics, improving our services, and certain direct marketing activities (where allowed);
  • Compliance with legal obligations — e.g. keeping records, responding to lawful requests and court orders.

Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time (for example, by using unsubscribe links or the contact details in Section 14). Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal.

5. How We Share Personal Information

We do not sell your Personal Information in the traditional sense (selling lists to unaffiliated third parties for their independent marketing). However, because we are a lead generation company, we do share your information with partners in exchange for compensation when we match you with them. Under some privacy laws (e.g. certain US state laws), this may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising or lead generation purposes.

We may share your Personal Information as follows:

5.1 Fulfilment Partners (Including Angi)

Our business model is to connect you with third parties who can help with your project. Therefore:

  • When you submit a service request, we share your contact and project details with one or more Fulfilment Partners, such as Angi, so that they can match you with contractors and/or contact you directly.
  • Our Fulfilment Partners may, in turn, share your information with their network of contractors and service professionals so they can call, email, or text you about your service request.
  • The use of your Personal Information by those Fulfilment Partners and contractors is governed by their own privacy policies and terms, not by this Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review their privacy policies when you interact with them.

5.2 Service Providers (Processors)

We may share your information with service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as:

  • Website hosting and infrastructure;
  • Database and CRM systems;
  • Email and SMS delivery providers;
  • Analytics and measurement;
  • IT and security services;
  • Customer support tools.

These third parties are only permitted to use your Personal Information to perform services for us and are contractually required to protect it.

5.3 Legal and Business Transfers

We may disclose your Personal Information:

  • Where required by law or legal process (for example, in response to court orders, subpoenas, or law enforcement requests);
  • Where we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, property, or safety, or those of our users or the public;
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, financing, or sale of all or part of our business or assets. In such cases, your Personal Information may be among the transferred assets.

6. Telephone Calls, Text Messages and Email Communications

By submitting your phone number and/or email address through our Site, you expressly consent to being contacted by:

  • HomeMatchr;
  • Our Fulfilment Partners (including Angi); and
  • Contractors or service providers to whom your request is sent,

via telephone, SMS/text message, email, or other electronic means regarding your request and related services.

This may include:

  • Automated calls or text messages using an automatic telephone dialing system or pre-recorded voice, where permitted by applicable law;
  • Non-emergency, informational, and marketing messages related to home improvement services and offers.

Message frequency may vary, and standard message and data rates may apply.

You can opt out of marketing communications:

  • For SMS/text: by replying “STOP” (or as instructed in the message) — see our SMS Terms;
  • For email: by clicking the unsubscribe link in the email;
  • Or by contacting us using the details in Section 14 below.

Please note that even if you opt out of marketing messages, we may still send you non-marketing communications related to your existing requests or legal obligations (e.g. confirmations, service communications, important notices).

7. Your Privacy Choices and Rights

7.1 General Choices

You have the right to:

  • Opt out of marketing emails by using unsubscribe links in our messages or contacting us;
  • Opt out of SMS marketing by replying “STOP” or as otherwise indicated;
  • Manage cookies through your browser settings and, where applicable, cookie banners or preference tools.

If you no longer want us to use your information to match you with Fulfilment Partners, you can contact us and request that we stop processing your information for that purpose. However, please note that any information already shared with partners will be subject to their own policies.

7.2 Rights Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.100 et seq.), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020 (CPRA). These rights include:

  • Right to Know: Request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you;
  • Right to Delete: Request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions;

  • Right to Non-Discrimination: Not be discriminated against for exercising your CCPA rights.

To exercise your California privacy rights, including opting out of the sale or sharing of your personal information, you may:

We may need to verify your identity before processing your request. We will respond to verifiable consumer requests within 45 days as required by law. We may not be able to delete information where we have a legal obligation or other legitimate basis to retain it.

7.3 Other US State Privacy Rights

Residents of other US states with comprehensive privacy laws (including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon and Montana, among others) may have similar rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of their personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising or the sale of personal information. To exercise these rights, use the same channels listed in Section 7.2.

7.4 Visitors From Outside the United States

The Site is directed at users in the United States and is not intended for individuals in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland. If you access the Site from one of those regions and applicable data protection law grants you rights — such as access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, or withdrawal of consent — you may exercise them by contacting us using the details in Section 14. Where such law applies, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Data Retention

We retain Personal Information for as long as necessary to:

  • Fulfil the purposes described in this Privacy Policy (e.g. processing your request, matching you with Fulfilment Partners, providing services);
  • Comply with legal, accounting, and reporting obligations;
  • Resolve disputes and enforce our agreements.

In practice, this generally means that we keep your lead and communication data for a period that reflects:

  • The typical lifecycle of a home improvement inquiry;
  • Any legal limitation periods for claims;
  • Our internal retention policies.

When Personal Information is no longer needed for the purposes for which it was collected, we will take steps to delete, anonymize, or aggregate it, unless we are legally required or permitted to keep it longer.

9. International Data Transfers

HomeMatchr is established in the United Arab Emirates, and many of our Fulfilment Partners and service providers are located in the United States and other countries. Your Personal Information may therefore be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, including countries that may have different or less protective data protection laws than your own.

Where required by applicable law, we will implement appropriate safeguards for such transfers, such as contractual protections with the recipients or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms.

By using the Site and providing us with your Personal Information, you acknowledge that your data may be transferred to, stored, and processed in these countries.

10. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect Personal Information against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure, or access.

Examples include:

  • Encryption of data in transit (e.g. HTTPS/SSL);
  • Access controls and authentication;
  • Secure hosting environments;
  • Internal policies and training for staff.

However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Any transmission of data to or from the Site is at your own risk.

If we become aware of a data breach that is likely to result in a high risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify you and/or the relevant authorities as required by applicable law.

11. Children’s Privacy

The Site is not intended for, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from, individuals under 18 years of age. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 18, we will take reasonable steps to delete such information as soon as possible.

If you believe that a child under 18 has provided us with Personal Information, please contact us using the details below.

12. Third-Party Websites

The Site may contain links to or integrations with third-party websites or services, including websites of contractors, partners, advertisers, or social media platforms. These third parties have their own privacy policies and practices, which govern their use of your information.

We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or security of any third-party websites or services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party websites you visit.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update or modify this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do:

  • We will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page; and
  • We may provide additional notice (e.g. by posting a banner on the Site or emailing you) where required by law or where the changes are material.

Your continued use of the Site after any changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the changes, you should stop using the Site and may request that we delete or anonymize your information, where applicable.

Please clearly state your name, contact details, and the nature of your request. If you are exercising a legal right (for example, access, deletion, or objection), we may ask for additional information to verify your identity.
